Great deals on highly rated Napa Cabernet Sauvignon rarely remain a secret for long, but not so with the outstanding Buehler Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, called "a real steal" by the Wine Advocate declaring it "One of the great values in Napa Cabernet Sauvignon year-in, year out" yet remaining under the radar of most Napa Cab fans. A highly rated 100% Napa Cab that won't break the bank, the full-bodied 91 pt. 2019 Buehler Cabernet Sauvignon is another winner from this underrated estate, offering juicy black fruit hinting of cocoa and spice with smooth, lush tannins, an everyday value for lovers of rich Napa Cabs at bargain pricing.
Located in an idyllic setting in the hills just above the Conn Valley, Buehler Vineyards has been family-owned for more than four decades, spanning 300 acres in Napa Valley on hillsides near the base of Howell Mountain. Purchased in 1971 by John and Helen Buehler with their first release in 1978, the Buehler's hired a then unknown 25-year-old winemaker named Heidi Barrett (whose future stints included Screaming Eagle and Dalle Valle) and continued to recruit the Valley's top young talent, hiring current winemaker David Cronin in 1993 after his tenure at Joseph Phelps and Far Niente. Produced in the long 2019 growing season that provided extended hang time and optimally ripe fruit, winemaker Cronin aged the 2019 Buehler Cabernet Sauvignon for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak, yielding youthful dark fruit that's ready to enjoy with the ability to evolve over time, earning it a spot on the Wine Spectator's list of "Stunning Napa Cabernets" priced under $50.
Describing Buehler Vineyards as an "estate in Napa Valley that doesn't get anywhere near the recognition it deserves," Vinous critic Antonio Galloni concludes the Buehler Vineyards Cab is "marked by a real sense of finesse that is impossible to miss," making the 91 pt. 2019 Buehler Cabernet Sauvignon another standout value among Napa Cabs at stellar pricing. |
