The 2018 Valpolicella Classico Superiore opens with an earthy yet fresh blend of minty herbs, citrus-kissed cherries and balsam herbs. It is juicy and lively, with a twang of sour citrus elevating its tart red berry fruits. The finish is long, with zesty inner tension as nuances of clove fade slowly. This is very pretty, but look out for its 15.5% ABV.

A dark and powerful wine with aromas of prunes, dark chocolate, bay leaves and truffles. It’s earthy and slightly oxidative. Full-bodied with thick, velvety tannins, a flavorful palate and refreshing acidity. A bit rustic in the warming finish. Umami aftertaste. Drink now.
