From 30-year-old vines in Brézé (about 10 kilometers east of Saumur) and macerated for 15 days, the cherry-colored 2018 Saumur Château Fouquet rouge offers a concentrated, intense and still somewhat reductive bouquet of ripe dark fruits that asks for decanting or at least lots of air. Silky, smooth and elegant, with generous, perfectly ripe and sweet black berry and cherry fruit on mellow tannins, this is a mouth-filling intense and juicy Cab Franc with perfectly ripe fruit flesh and concentration. The wine is pretty round and intense and highly attractive.
