The 2017 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is rich, layered and wonderfully complete. Apricot jam, orange confit, lightly honeyed notes and dried herbs are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. The 2017 is potent and rich, but not at all heavy. Bright acids pull it all together on the long, sustained finish.

Fully rancio and citrusy, with candied orange zest, nuts and dried figs. This old-fashioned style shines on the palate, with elegance, depth, a silky texture, weight, balanced sweetness and a super-tense finish. Lacks impressive length, but is an outstanding vin santo. Drink or hold.

Rich and creamy, boasting vanilla, honey, caramel, dried apricot and roasted nut flavors. This version is cut by balancing acidity, with a slightly cloying finish. A clean, hedonistic style. Malvasia, Trebbiano and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2045. 1,000 cases made, 325 cases imported.
