It was great they can deliver to our Dollar General which meant we didn't have to waste our day sitting at home waiting for a delivery. They also had a very hard liqueur to find but they had it. Very happy with the service. Thank you Irene Kozlowski

Very easy to place your order, prices are good, confirmation and shipping information is quick and the order arrives correct and usually a day sooner than expected. What more could you ask for. I am a new customer and just received my third order. As long as customer service and pricing remains at this level, I have no reason to go anywhere else for my liquor and wine purchases.

They were always perfect, except that one time they sent me white wine instead. Also, they still owe a bottle of southern comfort, when the bottle cap was stripped and would just turn around with never coming off.

2017 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande (750ml)

Cabernet Sauvignon from Pauillac, Bordeaux, France

B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Among the highest scoring vintages over the last two decades from a legendary "Super Second" estate, these powerful and elegant selections from Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande boast rich, aromatic dark fruit and bright, mineral-driven acidity, some ready to enjoy now and all ageworthy blends rivalling the quality of neighboring First Growth estates at unbeatable pricing.

Described as “arguably the single hottest chateau on Bordeaux’s Left Bank right now” by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, Pichon Lalande is located in Pauillac on the iconic Route des Chateaux overlooking the Gironde, its majestic turreted Chateau surrounded by the vines of First Growth Latour. Covering 89 hectares on deep gravel layered over clay and limestone, the Pichon Lalande vineyards are planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon with the oldest vines overlooking the river ranging up to 90 years of age, the remaining parcels located mostly in a single plot west of Latour. Describing it as “utterly brilliant, delivering juice, minerality, power, balance,” the thrilling 97 pt. 2009 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande offers “sheer enjoyment” according to Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson and “will unquestionably evolve gracefully for another 20-25 years” according to Jeb Dunnuck while the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss calls the 97 pt. 2009 Pichon Lalande “a seductive wine” with “beautifully integrated” tannins that’s simply “wonderful to taste” according to James Suckling. The 100 pt. 2010 Pichon Lalande is a “total showstopper” and a “modern day classic” according to Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, while James Suckling describes it as “rock-solid, with a classic Pauillac profile” and a lingering mineral-driven finish. The 95 pt. 2012 Pichon Lalande is “a wine of pure and total seduction” with “so much to offer” according to critic Galloni, while the 98 pt. 2015 Pichon Lalande is “as classy as they come” according to Jeb Dunnuck and “will continue to impress for two to three decades,” while impressing James Suckling with its “gorgeous texture” and “long and beautiful finish.” Described as “a perfect, legendary wine in the making” by Jeb Dunnuck, the 100 pt. 2016 Pichon Lalande earned a spot on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2019, called “a vivid, dramatically sweeping wine that will leave readers week at the knees” by critic Antonio Galloni who adds “don’t miss it.” Offering “silky tannins” that “feels like a Pauillac” according to Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson, the 96 pt. 2017 Pichon Lalande boasts “pure elegance and class” according to Jeb Dunnuck while the 99 tp. 2019 Pichon Lalande 99 pts. is “one of the wines of the vintage” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley, described by Vinous critic Neal Martin as “an absolute showstopper.”

Garnering unanimous critical acclaim typically reserved for the First Growths at a fraction of the price, these exceptional vintages from Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande blends are affordable luxuries not to be missed by Bordeaux lovers and collectors, whether selecting a few favorites to enjoy now or stocking the cellar and savoring them for years to come.

Composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, soon revealing floral notes of lilacs and lavender over a core of black raspberries, warm blackberries and forest floor plus touches of star anise and stewed black tea. Medium-bodied, the palate is a bundle of energy and tension with softly played tannins and beautiful floral and black fruit layers, finishing with a long-lingering whisper.

96 points, Wine Advocate (Mar 2020)

A sleek, precisely dialed-in Pauillac, with a pure and racy beam of cassis, blackberry and dark plum fruit inlaid with a mouthwatering iron note. A backdrop of singed alder and sweet tobacco waits in reserve, while the finish sails through with great cut. Possesses a regal feel. Best from 2025 through 2040.

96 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2020)

The 2017 Pichon Comtesse has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It is quite closed to begin, opening out with considerable swirling to reveal a gorgeous perfume of raspberry coulis, red roses, and crushed rocks, leading to a core of cassis and blackberries, plus a hint of cedar. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and finely crafted, delivering very fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with fantastic length.

96 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Dec 2022)

Pure elegance and class, the 2017 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande checks in as 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot (representing just 50% of the production) that spent 18 months in 60% new barrels. Nicolas Glumineau has done an incredible job at this estate and this wine is consistently one of the classiest, most elegant wines in just about every vintage. Pure Pauillac notes of creme de cassis, lead pencil, green tobacco, and gravelly earth give way to a medium to full-bodied, soft, supple, flawlessly balanced 2017 that shows the more straight, classic style of the vintage. It needs 4-6 years of bottle age and will evolve gracefully for 25+ years or more. Tasted twice.

95 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2020)

This smoky wine is structured and full of dry tannins. Acidity comes with the black-currant fruits that are slow to develop but will get there. Drink this wine from a great estate from 2024.

95 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Mar 2020)

The 2017 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a dark, powerful, somber Pauillac. Dark fruit, grilled herbs, smoke and licorice add to its distinctly brooding personality. In multiple tastings the 2017 has been incredibly tight and shut down. Readers will have to be especially patient. Estate Director Nicolas Glumineau has overseen a number of showy, majestic wines since he arrived at Pichon Comtesse in 2013. The 2017 appears to be cut from a different cloth, as it is incredibly reticent in the early going.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Mar 2020)

A tight, compact young Bordeaux with medium body, polished and round tannins and a medium finish. Not a big wine, but some very classy currant and raspberry character and just a hint of lead pencil and polished structure. Drink after 2022.

94 points, James Suckling (Jan 2020)
