Schiste/slate soils impart the intensifying midpalate experience that can overwhelm, as well as an etching depth to the finish. The region continues to impress with wines that are build like the nearby fortress town of Carcassonne. No wonder the famous Chapoutier was attracted to this place where he can build wines to rival his Rhone wines at a fraction of the cost – at least for now. |
