Not since 2010 has CDP enjoyed great success, and collectors have been snapping them up. Take for example the Domaine St. Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud – a gorgeous cuvee – 1,000 cases comprised of 60% 80-year old Grenache, 40% 40-year old Mourvedre from the lieux dits Les Serres and Le Crisita; southern and northern respectively, scoring 99 points from the Wine Spectator. Laurence Féraud of Domaine du Pegau compares her 2015 with 2010, and a stunning wine indeed. Don't miss this selection, each deserves your attention.

Now that it has been in bottle a while, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is looking even better than I projected based on last year's prebottling sample. It's all violets, cherries, subtle allspice and clove and traditional garrigue notes of lavender and thyme. Full-bodied and rich, it's crazy complex, adding hints of tar and black olives on the long, silky finish. It should evolve beautifully over the next two decades.
