From the lower parcel in the grand cru, the 2014 Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese GK was picked with 50% botrytis at 124° Oechsle at the same day like the regular Prälat. The wine shows a very clear and smoky-flavored tropical fruit intertwined with wet stone aromas. Highly elegant, pure and noble on the palate, this is a gorgeous Auslese whose sweetness is perfectly balanced, if not absorbed by the mineral structure and the grippy, salty finish. Mouthwatering Riesling despite the richness. I rarely have tasted a Prälat with such a vital acidity. Total production is 280 liters. (Only available in 375-milliliter bottles.)
