Vivid ruby-red. Fragrant scents of candied red fruits, blood orange and candied rose, along with notes of chalky minerals and allspice. Taut, focused and dry on entry, then fleshier and weightier in the middle, offering juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a taste of anise. Closes gently tannic and long, with resonating minerality and a touch of smokiness.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is a beautiful wine that has a forward, rounded and textured profile. Giving up notions of framboise, black raspberry and spice, it has plenty of fruit on the palate, with a broad, expansive texture that’s hard to resist. It should continue to shine for 4-5 years.
