I began using B21 about 2 years ago. Wish I had found them sooner. They represent about 70% to 80 % of my liquor buys. Only the odd things are purchased elsewhere. Once you use them you will be hooked. Inventory, professional staff, quick shipping and competative pricing are what I really appreciate. Try them, you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

2023 Paolo Scavino Nebbiolo Langhe (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy

91D 90V 90WS

Fragrant and primary, the nose of this must-buy value pick offers raspberry, mint and rose. Silky in texture and light on its feet with a succulent blood orange, Campari-esque character, its very fine tannins dissolve swiftly. To achieve an immediately approachable version of Nebbiolo, the Scavino family draws on east-facing parcels on sandy soil in the village of La Morra. Maceration lasts just five days and ageing in neutral barrels has been reduced to eight months.

91 points, Michaela Morris, Decanter (Nov 2024)

The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is another fine entry-level offering from Scavino. Crushed flowers, sweet macerated red cherry, cedar and pipe tobacco give the 2023 striking aromatic presence to match its mid-weight personality. Floral overtones reappear to round out the finish. This is beautifully done.

90 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Sep 2025)

Macerated cherry is the core flavor, with accents of earth and menthol. The firm structure keeps this reined in, yet there are echoes of the fruit and savory components on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 2,600 cases made, 867 cases imported.

90 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Apr 2025)

2021 Paolo Scavino Barolo (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

94WA 93WS 93JS 92D

To be released in January 2025, the Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo is bright and vivid, showing the focus and character of the vintage. This sample is still quite tight, and the tannins are firmly knit. However, the tannins are more elegant and silkier in the 2021 compared to 2020. I recommend giving this wine more time in bottle to allow it to fully flesh out.

94 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Jan 2025)

Lacy and elegant, yet with ample tannins for structure, featuring rose, strawberry, cherry and mineral aromas and flavors. Pure and focused, this red stays in the red fruit spectrum through the long finish. Shows excellent balance in its youthful way. Best from 2028 through 2045. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

93 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Aug 2025)

Restrained and compact nose with vibrant violets and dried cherries, refreshed by pomegranate and oak bark. Full-bodied on the palate with a sold backbone of tannins that turn dusty and drier on the finish. Crisp acidity and an austere aftertaste. Try from 2027.

93 points, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

From nine sites spread throughout the villages of Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, Serralunga and Monforte, Scavino’s classic Barolo isn’t crafted simply for accessibility. It is, perhaps, more immediately harmonious than the MGA bottlings. Entrancing aromas combine truffle, orange and potting soil, with intense violet as it opens. Heftier and fuller than the nose suggests, the palate demonstrates ample fruit ripeness and lots of chalky tannins. Satisfyingly confident in its grip, the tangy finish echoes all the wine's innate prettiness.

2020 Paolo Scavino Prapo (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

95V 95WE 95JS 94JD

The 2020 Barolo Prapò is another impressive wine from the Scavino family in this vintage. Dark and somber, with plenty of Serralunga tannin, the 2020 impresses with its superb balance and class. Dark fruit, iron, leather, menthol and espresso build as this dramatic, wonderfully resonant Barolo shows off its stylish personality. Elegance and power.

95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2024)

Prapò, a renowned Barolo cru, yields a captivating wine with dark red fruits and a super pretty nose. Lifted herbal notes intertwine with fruit and earth, creating a harmonious blend. The texture is elegant, and the well-balanced tannins provide structure. A stunning expression of Nebbiolo from a top-tier vineyard. Drink 2025 - 2045

95 points, Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast (Sep 2024)

Seductive and charming with cherries, crushed raspberries, warm herbs, bark and baking spices. Full body with fine tannins and bright acidity. Well-weighted with a succulent core of sour cherries and red currants at the center and a dash of citrus too. Focused and poised with a long finish. Try after 2028.

95 points, James Suckling (Feb 2024)

Dark red in color, the 2020 Barolo Prapo displays a riper and sunnier profile, with rich aromas of black cherries, lavender oil, balsamic, and tarry earth. Medium to full-bodied, it’s weightless on the palate, with a savory note of tea leaf upfront as well as hints of cherry pit and walnut, and it has a long finish. It’s a bit more broad-shouldered but wears it with a graceful touch. Drink 2026-2046.

2021 Paolo Scavino Bricco Ambrogio (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

97JS 96WS 95V

This shows balsamic, sandalwood, rose petals and a touch of red fruit on the nose. The palate is tight, with precise chewy tannins, tight fruit and a compact finish. A solid, exceptional Barolo that will need about three years to soften.

97 points, Jacobo García Andrade, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

Permeated with cherry, pomegranate, earth, wild herb and iron flavors, this rich red is dense and powerful. Firm, chalky tannins ply its depths, leaving a solid grip on the finish, yet the fruit is ripe and the aftertaste long, with sweet fruit returning at the end. Best from 2027 through 2048. 800 cases made, 250 cases imported.

96 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Aug 2025)

The 2021 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is classy and polished to the core. This wine has come such a long way since its debut. Enrico Scavino really believed in this site when he purchased it a little more than 20 years ago. The 2021 is a fine testament to his vision. Lavender, sage, menthol and licorice lead into a core of dark-toned fruit in a Barolo that is deep yet also light on its feet. This is impeccably done, not to mention very tasty.

2021 Paolo Scavino Ravera (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

96JD 95WA 95V 95WS 95JS

The 2021 Barolo Ravera has a jeweled ruby hue and is gorgeous and pure on the nose, with aromas of raspberry liqueur, sweet tea leaf, pressed flowers, and fresh sage. It’s elegant and refined on the palate, with a seamless and even feel, silky, ripe tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long, graceful finish. It’s a fabulous wine to taste now but offers a wide window for enjoyment over the coming 20 or so years.

96 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (May 2025)

You feel the dark fruit intensity of Novello in the Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo Ravera. This is a very fine and well-constructed wine with layers of ripe cherry, iris root, crushed stone and licorice. The tannins are powdery, but the wine's structure remains firm and intact. Ravera promises a long life but remains attractive and accessible in the medium term, should you choose to uncork this bottle sooner.

95 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Jan 2025)

The 2021 Barolo Ravera is captures all the signatures of this site. Iron, white pepper, sage, mint, chalk and red-toned fruit all grace this sculpted, vibrant young Barolo. I especialy admire its energy and tension. Clean mineral notes support the bracing finish. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2021 for at least a few years.

95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2025)

Rich and saturated with cherry, plum, earth, tar and iron flavors, this red is muscular and bursting with energy. Tightens up on the finish, yet there's plenty of fruit and complexity, with great balance and a lingering aftertaste. Best from 2030 through 2050. 500 cases made, 150 cases imported.

95 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Aug 2025)

A very floral wine with aromas of fresh roses, cherry stones, licorice and smoke. Very fresh on the palate, almost zesty, with a medium to full body, tight yet ripe tannins and an aftertaste of licorice and tobacco. Try after 2027.
