The first two important words I learned in Spanish wine were "Jorge Ordonez". For 20 years Jorge has championed Spain, treasure hunting from La Rioja to La Mancha to bring its jewels to the world and especially America. I met him probably 12 years ago, maybe more; a real character and a true gourmand. Whenever Jorge shows up with a new Muga or Moro a rare old sherry or his own Moscato, I pay attention. He remains passionate, as driven as anyone I know, about his mission to put Spanish wine front and center. Jorge certainly knows where to find them at any price point (just taste the Tres Picos Garnacha).
