Manhattan-worthy.

Candy shop sweetness of Good & Plenty on the nose, along with bananas and cream. The palate is bold, rich, and balanced, offering almond, fig, vanilla cream, and grape jelly. Nice length on a finish that offers lovely notes of pine, roasted peanuts, dried herbs, and anise. Water unlocks vanilla and hints of tobacco leaf. Quite powerful and at times barrel forward, but flavorful and balanced all the same.

A rich and round Whiskey with bushels of cherry flavor.

1884 references the final year Nathan “Nearest” Green, the former slave now known as the first African-American distiller, made whiskey before retiring. A nose of blossom honey, fresh cherries, banana cream pie, licorice, and spice is followed by a palate that's delicate and creamy, with notes of vanilla frosting, orange, peanuts, marshmallow, and light pepper spice. Tobacco leaf on the finish, with cherry, oak, and understated spice. A sturdy, finessed exemplar of Tennessee style.

It’s tasty, if not overly complex, showing notes of popcorn, sweet berry, and vanilla, with a finish that brings to mind hot corn muffins fresh from the oven. The finish has a slightly chalky character. Not off-putting in any way, just a bit linear.

Plenty of spice and grip, with water adding dark chocolate and black coffee. A quality dram that hits all the bells—length, depth, complexity, and sheer enjoyability.

Rich notes of caramel and vanilla developing in yellow cake batter with dark caramel, brown sugar, leather, toasted pecans, and hints of walnut, smoked apple, and honey. Then red fruit, baking spice, and complex butterscotch over a palate-coating mouthfeel that's perfectly warm and balanced all over. As good as it is, it could be better with ten more proof points. Its light proof shows in a shorter-than-desired finish.

It finishes with milk chocolate, toasted nuts, and lingering cinnamon.

A smooth, spicy finish brings on a finale of orange tart, ginger, dried almonds, and a pleasant cereal note. Light but well spiced, with depth and balance.
