Give this light reposado a little time to open up. The aroma morphs from a smoky, almost barbecue sauce-like aroma to softer, fruiter, even lightly floral notes. The spirit, aged six to nine months in previously used Bourbon casks, offers a vanilla flavor with an assertive herbaceous, grassy finish, faintly touched with menthol and fresh basil.

After eighteen months in oak, Tres' wood character is more prominent, and on first blush it is heady on the nose with tannin and wood oil notes. This fades after time in the glass, revealing richer versions of those characteristics in the Reposado: caramel and some chocolate notes. A lovely anejo, it really opens up when you give it time.
