Released last year to much fanfare (and awarded gold at the GABF) Session Black is true to the hype. A frothy, tan head perches atop the dark brown beer, while rich, ruby highlights ornament the sides of the glass. Pronounced chocolate notes and a touch of roast fill the nose, totaling a very clean, pleasant aroma. This beer is unmistakably a well-constructed American lager: crisp and light on the palate, with just a touch of caramel sweetness and graininess that’s contrasted by a cracked black pepper hop presence. Wrapping up with a chocolaty finish and bitter bite, this is truly a session brew for dark beer lovers.

Dusty walnut color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate nuts and dried orange peel and chocolate muffin with a supple, bright, finely carbonated, fruity medium body and a smooth, engaging, medium-length dark chocolate mousse, banana nut bread, grass, and hint of pepper finish. A nicely balanced dark lager with creamy chocolatey flavors.
