As I have mentioned in the past, the Domaine de la Tourmaline bottling of Muscadet was the first serious example from this appellation that I encountered in my early days in the wine trade and it completely opened my eyes to the potential of this appellation for those who chose to hand-harvest their fruit, keep yields to reasonable levels and age their wines for some time on their fine lees. The 2022 version is lovely on both the nose and palate, with the vibrant bouquet wafting from the glass in a blaze of lemon, tart pear, breadfruit, wet stone minerality, ocean breeze and a topnote of straw. On the palate the wine is pure, focused and full-bodied, with a superb core of fruit, great mineral undertow and grip, fine acids and impeccable balance on the long and complex finish. This is an outstanding example of Muscadet!

Vivid and full of vibrancy at the center. The nose expresses notes of apples, white peaches and crushed almonds. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity. Sapid and agile with a succulent finish. Drink now. Screw cap.
