Crafted by the former assistant winemaker at legendary cult producer Sine Qua Non for “fans of big, concentrated, nuanced Rhone Ranger styles” according to Wine Independent’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown, these top scoring Andremily selections are “built on textural opulence” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous, a rare opportunity for Cali Rhone fans and collectors to acquire wines typically reserved for their mailing list, including exclusive back vintage magnum sets at unbeatable value pricing.

After achieving a staggering twenty-seven 100 point scores during his tenure with winemaker Manfred Krankl at Sine Qua Non, Jim Binns established Andremily in 2012 on the outskirts of Ventura California just south of Santa Barbara, naming it for the combination of his two children’s names, Andrew and Emily and devoting his full attention to his Central Coast project in 2017. Sourcing grapes from top Santa Barbara vineyards including the legendary Bien Nacido and White Hawk, Jim has also expanded his use of estate grown fruit since his recent purchase of the 39-acre Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, a move that has had “a profound impact on the wine” according to Galloni. From “an undeniably great vintage throughout the Central Coast that will be loved by those who prioritize finesse and elegance,” Jeb Dunnuck calls the 97-point. 2021 Andremily #10 Syrah “stunningly complex even at this young age” with full-bodied richness “and a finish that won’t quit,” while the 100-point 2021 Andremily Mourvedre, blended with 12% Syrah including fruit comes from the Slide Hill estate vineyard, boasts “solid tannins, perfect balance, and a great finish” and promises “two decades of longevity” according to Dunnuck.

The 2021 Mourvèdre is another archetypal example of the variety from Andremily, where winemaker Jim Binns manages to polish what can be a naturally rustic variety into a shining, sapphire-like expression. Bottled on August 26 and tasted on October 25, it shows the elegance and juiciness that is characteristic of a cooler growing season. It's explosive and electrically blue on the nose, with incredibly pure aromas of blueberry candy, violet, juniper and accents of coffee beans, warm chocolate, aniseed and grilled Wagyu beef—it continually unfurls to reveal new scents with each return to the glass. The palate is just as impressive with its balance of concentrated, fragrant fruit, fireworks of fresh acidity and finely chalky tannins, and it has a tremendously long, perfumed finish. The 2021 is blended with 12% Syrah, and fruit comes from Andremily's new Slide Hill estate vineyard, plus the Alta Mesa Vineyard and White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. It was vinified using 75% whole clusters and matured around 21 months in 50% new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids. 500 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set for $330. A few magnums were also made, which will be sold as part of a two-bottle set with the 2021 No. 10 Syrah.

The 2021 Mourvedre has a deep garnet-purple color. Wow—the nose erupts with licorice, wild sage, violets, and tar scents, leading to a core of blackberry preserves, minted blackcurrants, and stewed plums. Full-bodied, the palate has a firm, very fine-grained texture with amazing tension and purity, finishing long and fragrant. Gorgeous.
