The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is smoky yet subtle with dusty raspberries, crushed stone and wild herbs. It's silky, with a salty flourish that gives way to penetrating red fruits and exotic spices. This leaves a staining of primary concentration, tapering off lightly structured and unexpectedly fresh. While I'd like to see a little more depth on the palate, this is a nicely balanced and highly enjoyable Ripasso.
