The 2019 Santorini Selection Cuvée is an unoaked Assyrtiko sourced from vines ranging from 60 to 80 years in age. It comes in at 13.8% alcohol. This brand has long lees aging (14 months, as noted on the label) as part of its vinification methods. Showing notable power and acidity, this has a tense finish to go with reasonable concentration and unctuous texture. There is a certain flavor nuance on the finish that I didn't always adore—that long lees aging, perhaps?—that makes this seem a bit off-center at times, but the overall wine is terrific, with superb structure and fine mouthfeel. It should last for most of this decade, but let's be conservative for the moment. I'd like to see how it progresses. There were 50,000 bottles produced.
