The wines of Paso Robles have a seductive opulence about them aromatically, and a plush mid-palate feel followed by the developing firmness of acidity that lifts the full lush fruit, articulating it in the finish. Great Paso reds cover the savory spectrum making them most satisfying and fulfilling. Neighbors Rick Quinn and Dave Nichols came together to create what became Opolo back in 1997. They now own and farm nearly 300 acres of vines on the east and west sides of Paso Robles and are producing for now the best bargain I know in Paso Robles. Lovers of the Paso style (think Justin and Daou) should not miss this Cabernet.

With intense blackberry, chipped cedar, light vanilla, crushed rocks and ample oak on the nose, this bottling is a full package for a fair price. The full-throttle palate packs blackberry jam and toast flavors alongside lively enough acidity.

Opaque garnet. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry aromas, along with hints of woodsmoke, succulent herbs and cracked pepper. Supple and broad on the palate, offering red berry, bitter cherry and rose pastille flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Smooth, even tannins add gentle grip to a clinging finish that shows very good clarity and repeating spiciness.
