From an east-facing, marly vineyard in Gamlitz, the 2018 Ried Eckberg Morillon (bottled in April this year) displays a ripe, intense and concentrated, wonderfully aromatic bouquet with a coolish, flinty and deep soul. Vinified in stainless steel and large oak vats, this is a pretty rich and powerful, juicy and creamy-textured wine with generosity and fine, structuring tannins and lingering salinity. This is a stimulating Chardonnay from a rich and coolish soil. Tasted in May 2019.
