The 2018 Domaine des Sabines is deep purple-black colored and features expressive black cherries, dark chocolate and licorice scents with nuances of bay leaves, underbrush, Sichuan pepper and hoisin. Full-bodied and chock-full of plushly textured black fruit preserves, it has soft acid and a long, decadently spicy finish.

What should be an outstanding wine, the 2018 Domaine des Sabines comes from the Lalande-de-Pomerol region, which produced a bevy of beautiful wines in the vintage. Offering solid notes of cassis, graphite, tobacco, and lead pencil, it’s balanced, medium to full-bodied, has fine tannins, and plenty of class. Drink it over the coming decade or so.

This is very salty and bright with dark-berry, chocolate and dark-spice aromas and flavors. Medium body. Savory finish.

The 2018 Domaine des Sabines is gorgeous. Inky red/purplish berry fruit, sweet spice, chocolate, licorice and new leather are pushed forward in a racy, succulent wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Even with all of its early approachability, the 2018 has a good bit of supporting structure as well. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
