The inky colored 2018 Le Clos du Beau-Père is another sexy, opulent wine from this vintage that delivers serious amounts of fruit and texture while staying nicely balanced and light on its feet. Full-bodied notes of smoked black fruits, plums, chocolate, and tobacco all give way to a full-bodied Pomerol that hits the palate with no hard edges, a wealth of fruit, terrific purity and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from a handful of years of bottle age and drink brilliantly for 15 years or more.

This is really solid with lots of dark-fruit, spice and cedar character. Some chocolate, too. Medium to full body and firm tannins. Savory.

The 2018 Le Clos du Beau-Pere is deep purple-black in color and comes spilling out of the glass with pronounced blackberry preserves, crème de cassis and plum pudding scents plus wafts of Chinese five spice, tar, potpourri and chargrill. Full-bodied, the palate is rich and hedonic, laden with black fruit preserves and bags of spicy accents, finishing a little chewy.
