Heady, aromatic highlights of candied lemon peel reach the nose, followed by equally rich hints of ripe pear and peach. The palate takes this full force of generous fruit and pitches it against tangy, passion fruit and lemon zest. This is concentrated and has wonderfully spiky lemon freshness on the finish.

Picked on October 4th and 5th and vinified in large oak (the 1,500-liter Stockinger vat in which the Loibenberg used to be fermented), the 2017 Ried Kellerberg Riesling displays a very flinty and reductive bouquet of crushed stones and white stone fruit aromas. Aged on the full lees until May and bottled in July, this is a full-bodied and structured, tannic and minerally Riesling with good power and energy and great elegance. Still very young and with great tension. Tasted in Oberloiben/Wachau, September 2018.

Ripe and succulent but also discreet and elegant, this has a ton of peachy character, plus floral, mandarin and white-chocolate nuances. Great balance through the long, intense finish. Drink or hold.
