While this valley floor vineyard doesn’t get the credit it deserves, it turns out some magical wines. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Janzen Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard is a terrific success in this vintage. It displays a deep purple color as well as rocking notes of blackcurrants, chocolate, tobacco leaf, and loamy earth. Rich, full-bodied, and opulent on the palate, it has wonderful tannins (which aren't a given in this vintage), a terrific sense of elegance and purity, and a great finish. This beautiful 2017 is going to drink well for at least 15-20 years.

This is an incredibly concentrated, powerfully built wine that is still in its youth, while also being soft and cohesively layered in dense black cherry and berry. Clove, vanilla and black pepper provide seasoning to the foundation of toasted oak and firm structured tannin. With more time for aging, it is well worth considering. Enjoy best from 2027–2030.
