The 2017 Rasteau Prestige (30- to 50-year-old vines) has put on some weight during the past year, while retaining the charm it had as a tank sample. Pepper-cured meat notes accent black cherries in the full-bodied, expansive wine. It's plush and cuddly yet still structured enough to carry the ripe flavors to a long, vibrant finish. The blend is 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, aged in a combination of foudres and concrete tanks. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

The 2017 Rasteau Cuvée Prestige checks in as 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre that spent 18 months in a mix of foudre and demi-muids (60%) and concrete tanks (40%). It’s as classic as they come and offers plenty of dark berry fruits as well as notes of garrigue, pepper, and cedary herbs. With good depth of fruit, medium to full body, and a seamless texture, it’s a beautiful Rasteau to enjoy over the coming decade.
