Anyone who has followed the great wines of the Rhone valley for any length of time will easily attest, Isabel Ferrando is one of this generation's most important players. I first met her at her post in Gigondas, where I was a regular visitor to one of the village's great domaines, Raspail-Ay. Her desire to expand into neighboring Chateauneuf du Pape led her to an ancient estate, Domaine Saint Prefert. A domaine which was first established by Fernand Serre nearly a century earlier, in the district of Quartier des Serres at the southern edge of the village, Saint Prefert was one of the first estate bottlers in the 1930s. Isabel's selections are among the very finest of Chateauneuf du Pape.

A beauty, with macadamia nut, brioche, lemon curd and creamed Jonagold apple notes providing the fat, while pink grapefruit zest, verbena, chamomile and quinine details serve as a perfectly bracing counterpoint. Everything knits seamlessly through the very long, pure and creamy finish. Drink now through 2030. 133 cases made, 26 cases imported.

97 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Nov 2019)
