2016 are wines that represent well their terroir with precision; articulate – expressing their commune. Tasting these en primeur two years ago, the wines of Palmer, Mouton, Leoville las Cases and Cos d'Estournel were singing full throated – to mention a few. This is the theme of 2016, in particular the Cabernet. Young Lynch Bages, Clerc Milon and Poyferre... I could go on.

The 2016 Tour Castillon has a clean and precise bouquet with blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, a lovely mineral seam running from start to finish. The palate is medium-bodied with crispy tannin, very focused and lively. A taut and linear finish suggests another couple of years in bottle will benefit this wine. Good potential. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
