Gently tarry and attractively earthy in style with a core of very fine tannins cradling lithe, juicy, elegant flavors. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Nizza is a dark, unctuous wine with striking depth and resonance. Espresso, licorice, grilled herbs and menthol all develop in a rich yet mid-weight Barbera loaded with complexity. In 2016 the Nizza is not that different from the Rocchette, but both wines are quite attractive.

Aromas of forest floor, dark-skinned berry and cooking spice form the nose. The full-bodied palate offers dried black cherry, clove and tobacco alongside fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2026.
