Robbie Meyer, winemaker at Peirson-Meyer, is a Georgia native with an early interest in wine and food which led him to a UC Davis degree in Enology. His previous work at wineries such as Peter Michael Winery and Lewis Cellars fueled the interest to create his own wine project.

Alan Peirson, the viticultural manager with a 20 year history at Peter Michael, has always had an intense interest in food, wine and design. Alan is also a sculptor. The 2015 Maquette – "maquette" is the name given to a small three dimensional model made for a larger scale sculpture – the minor to the Cabernet. Alan is also viticulturist at O'Shaugnessy Vineyards up on Napa's Howell Mountain.

In 2001, they joined forces, both with supportive friends, extensive experience and intuition began their project. Sophia's Vineyard Chardonnay, planted by Warren Dutton back in the '70s in Russian River, is a great example of a perfect collaborative of winemaker and viticulture, albeit 300 case production. This collaborative effect could be said of each Peirson-Meyer wine.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Bateman Vineyard is quite fresher and more nuanced than the Miller. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red cherries, mint and chalk give the Bateman its characteristic lifted profile. There is a sense of energy and tension to the Miller that play off the natural richness of the year very nicely.

Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Bateman Vineyard gives up beautiful, bright, exuberant crushed raspberries and Bing cherries with hints of cranberries, rose hip tea, lavender and dusty soil with a waft of cinnamon stick. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm frame of very ripe, fine-grained tannins supporting the super intense flavors, finishing long and minerally. 75 cases produced.
