Dark red. Aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and smoked meat, backed by subtle herb and floral notes. Smooth and weighty on entry and then tighter in the middle, offering bitter cherry and cassis flavors firmed by a spine of juicy acidity. Showing unusual heft for the category, this is the most substantial rendition of this bottling that I've yet tasted, which isn't surprising given the vintage. Closes supple and broad, displaying good cling and an echo of sweet dark fruit.

The 2015 Raisins Gaulois, which finishes its fermentation in tank and bottled in the winter following the harvest, has a very pretty Morello cherry nose with touches of strawberry. The palate is fresh and lively with simple tart cherry fruit and a dash of spice towards the feisty finish. Fill your boots with this delicious glugger.
