Melon a queue rouge is white wine from the same family as Chardonnay. To be more precise, it is the ancestor of Chardonnay. Our vines are a selection massale, small berries that are clear, but with a stem (queue) that becomes red as the grapes ripen. The grapes when ripe are gold, at times become a little pink, and produce a white wine of a great finesse, often with exotic aromas, citrus, and mineral as well. 100% de-stemmed, only indigenous yeasts used, thus with no rigid timing of the rhythm of aging, varying between 12 and 36 months elevage in large foudre sur lie, up to time of bottling. It is a wine that one can drink only lightly chilled.
