The 2015 Robola is revisited for a checkup on the occasion of the new vintage's debut. It is unoaked and under screwcap. It comes in at 13% alcohol. Another year or so in the bottle has only done good things here. This is a lighter-styled, fresh white, of course. It won't meet your demand for fat and rich, if that is your demand, but on all other fronts it remains impressive in its style. Pure and transparent, it has retained all of its original vigor, still dancing with authority over the tongue. It is gripping, pointed and fresh, the acidity providing plenty of lift to the fruit on this dry, focused white. There is plenty of tension. Even if it is somewhat austere, it is pretty tasty, too, and it then adds a touch of saline. It will be interesting to see how this ages under screwcap. The producer expects it may do better than in the past, when I tended to think three to five years was probably about as far as you would want to go for safety, depending on the vintage. Let's continue to take that in stages, though. It is pretty glorious now, however, so don't hesitate to dive in.
