Readers of these pages require little to no introduction for this one. In the history of these offers, no other wine from this appellation has sold out as quickly or consistently as the Perrin Brothers' Clos des Tourelles. In the ultra-rare, single vineyard, specialty cuvee Gigondas game there's an important name that's been added to everyone's list. These brothers are no stranger to the greatest terroirs of the area, their family having established roots in near-by Chateauneuf du Pape as far back as 1549 – their first parcel being that historical plot at Coudoulet. That's right, I'm talking about the Perrin guys from Chateau Beaucastel.
Originating from an estate purchased by the family in 2008, the Clos des Tourelles is a walled vineyard a few miles outside the city center of Gigondas. This famous Clos has long been identified with Gigondas, considered by the old-timers in the region its Grand Cru site. Paying homage to its importance, this is the only wine which the Perrins do NOT vinify at their family winery, electing instead to harvest, vinify and bottle this famous wine all within the Gigondas zone. It's an old tradition, and one which exhibits the incredible importance of this stunning wine.
