The deep ruby-colored 2015 Beaujolais Coeur de Vendanges is a smoking good Beaujolais that offers lots of darker berry fruits (there’s almost a blue fruit quality) as well as loads of minerality, notable stems, crushed violets, and scorched earth-like nuances. With medium-bodied richness and a fresh, elegant, vibrant style on the palate, this beauty comes from crazy old vines (105-125-year-old vines) and granite soils, has real class and will age gracefully through at least 2025. It’s a steal at the price.

Bright magenta. Intense red berry, earth and spice scents, along with a strong suggestion of pungent flowers. Sappy, mineral-laced raspberry and bitter cherry flavors stretch out and turn sweeter with aeration. Densely packed but vibrant as well, finishing quite long and juicy, featuring repeating red fruit and floral character and silky, harmonious tannins that lend shape and grip.

Very fruity with lots of crushed berries and spices. Blueberries. Medium to full body and round and soft tannins. Fruity and juicy. Will be renamed Pierre-Marie Chermette starting with the 2016 vintage. Drink now.
