Dark red with ruby tones. Superripe yet pungent aromas of crushed cherry, spices and minerals; hints at exotic fruits but there's nothing cooked or tired here. Then silky, highly concentrated and creamy-sweet in the mouth, with surprising acidity giving its fruit a rare sappiness for 2015. Most spectacular today on the explosive, building finish, which saturates the palate with fresh cherry, raspberry and rose petal perfume. This wine made me shiver with its intensity, but Arnaud Mortet believes it's starting to shut down in the bottle. A remarkable Gevrey premier cru from vines that are now between 70 and 100 years of age.
