Château Grand Moulin Macquin's 15 acres enjoys outstanding terroir where vines planted in 1964 are well established on south facing slopes of clay-limestone soils in the smallest denomination of Libourne – St. Georges near to St. Emilion and Pomerol. Grand Moulin Macquin is an excellent value among the rising prices of the 2015 vintage. I stumbled on this wine at a Bordeaux negociant lineup in May where it outperformed a number of Chateaux that fetch double its tariff. Excellent Cabernet aromatics, rich Merlot textures on the pallet and a long, impressive finish powered by the limestone. Tasted blind this could easily be a Fronsac or St.Emilion, no problem. Due to the tiny production, the property doesn't make headlines nor submits samples to the press. GMM is a great little treasure, a Bordeaux bargain.
