This lush red fills the mouth, with cherry, plum, graphite, leather and sweet spice flavors. Tobacco and earth accents join the party as this builds to a long, well-integrated aftertaste. Shows beautiful balance and expression. Drink now through 2035. 2,500 cases made, 180 cases imported.

Plenty of meat, baking spices, plum pudding and vanilla to this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, as well as creme de cassis, dark chocolate and blackberries. The palate has impressive form and composure, sporting a firm tannin backbone, pretty acidity and a chewy finish. Drink in 2020.

Solid, expansive and dark in appearance, the 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione La Prima shows an elaborate and sophisticated personality. This wine, made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot (aged in barrique for two years), is appropriate for steak or grilled meat dinners. It offers the ripe fruit flavors, with blackberry and dark plum, as well as the textural richness to match those robust foods. This wine from cool Greve in Chianti performs best in warm vintages such as 2015. Some 13,000 bottles were made.
