When Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate wrote, "I am experiencing a Capanna enlightenment. Looking back at my past scores (which are a few points lower on average compared to these), either I failed to appreciate these wines, or they made a huge jump forward in winemaking excellence this past year (despite the vintage difficulties). Maybe it's a bit of both," she recognized that even with the 2014, Capanna was turning out wines among the very best of Brunello. Then along comes the 2015 Capanna Brunello which we all now know as an exceptional vintage. James Suckling put it this way, "We admit that it is tempting to say that 2015 is Brunello di Montalcino’s best vintage ever, and it may very well be! It certainly compares to other great years of the appellation including 1997, 2006, 2007, and 2010." Situated in the Montosoli area north of Montalcino, the Cencioni family has been farming at Capanna since 1957 – and one of the 25 founding members the Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio.

Plums and dried flowers with violets and lavender and hints of sandalwood. Full-bodied, dense and fruity with a big and juicy palate, yet the round and firm tannins hold it all together and give it form. Drink after 2021.

96 points, James Suckling (Nov 2019)

Bright deep red. Musky, bracing aromas and flavors of red cherry and orange peel, tarragon and violet. Full and tactile, with racy acidity giving the wine’s deep flavors real cut and grip. Finishes with lingering saline nuances on the clean, refined back end. A rather uncompromising style of Brunello, but very true to type; this will also age extremely well. Capanna has always made excellent solid, traditional Brunellos, but it strikes me as being an estate on a real roll of late.
