Bright ruby-red. Pungent, spice-accented aromas of ripe red berries and violet, with a subtle touch of smokiness emerging slowly. Bright and energetic on the palate, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors that deepen on the back half. Finishes spicy and long, with gentle tannins, a sweet vanilla nuance and a lingering suggestion of medicinal cherry.

The smooth, saturated texture of this wine spreads without any excess weight or sweetness. It’s spicy with cracked green peppercorn scents, the smoky edges of the wine seeming to gain definition from four percent viognier in the blend, providing crisp tannic boundaries. This is rich without showing oak, finishing clean and savory.

Deep garnet purple colored, the 2014 The Chook Shiraz / Viognier is scented of crushed black cherries, wild blueberries, dried herbs, tar and chocolate box with a floral / red rose lift. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with youthful black fruits and a peppery edge, finishing with good length and freshness.
