A Mourvèdre dominated blend that includes Syrah (38%) and Grenache (20%), the 2014 Sagacious was fermented in concrete tanks and spent two years in French oak. It's another terrific red from this estate that delivers lots of black fruits, crushed violets and spice/incense aromas and flavors, full-bodied richness, no hard edges and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 7-8 years or more.

Composed of 42% Mourvèdre, 38% Syrah and 20% Grenache, the 2014 Sagacious sports a deep garnet-purple color and is scented of blackberry preserves, crème de cassis, tapenade and black licorice with underlying hints of forest floor, black soil, chargrill and sautéed herbs. Full-bodied, concentrated and laden with earth-laced black fruit flavors, it has a rock-solid structure of chewy tannins and a lively line, finishing with anise and herbal notes.

95+ points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate (Issue # Interim - Sep 2017)

Glass-staining ruby. Heady, mineral- and spice-tinged black and blue fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of cola, candied licorice, violet candy and mocha. Plush and deeply concentrated, offering sweet blueberry, cherry-vanilla and fruitcake flavors, along with an exotic Indian spice quality. Shows impressive intensity and dark fruit thrust on the finish, which is framed by broad, velvety tannins that fade steadily into the densely packed fruit.
