The 2014 Vinha Grande (Casa Ferreirinha) white is another super bargain from Sogrape, sourced from an altitude of 600 meters. A blend of 45% Viosinho, 30% Arinto, 15% Gouveio and 10% Códega, about 40% of the juice was aged in new French oak for eight months. This shows rather good depth, but more importantly a piercing demeanor. The big acidity slices through the wood with ease and makes this rather bracing. It cries out for food. Acidity preserves and this invigorating and gripping Branco should hold pretty well, too, perhaps even better than I think–but let's take that in stages. There were 67,000 bottles produced.
