The 2013 TeHo Malbec is sourced from the oldest part of their 1955 vineyard, from a higher altitude terrace planted around 1940. It is made with a field blend, mainly Malbec with some Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Bonarda, Tempranillo. Everything goes together into the fermentation containers (egg-shaped cement vats, plastic bins and open barrels). It's ripe and heady with notes of plums, damsons, aromatic herbs and forest floor. The palate is full-bodied (but the wine is just below 14% alcohol) juicy, a bit chewy, with good grip and clout. This is an XL Malbec, with concentration and stuffing to age. Superb in its style. 2,400 bottles produced.
