Even though the 2011 JC Vizcarra is priced slightly higher than the cut-off point for this article, it merits attention as it is rare to find such a delicious Ribera del Duero priced under $35. Made from 100% Tempranillo, it exhibits abundant notes of vanillin, black currants, blackberries, incense and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and rich, it is ideal for drinking over the next 5-6 years.

This polished red delivers lively flavors of cherry, wild berry, fresh herb and mineral that harmonize beautifully, supported by light, firm tannins and lively acidity. Not a muscular wine, but energetic. Drink now through 2018. 1,500 cases made.
