In 1847, by royal order of King Louis Philippe, the name Chambertin was attached to Gevrey and officially became Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines are on average over 55 years and are planted on limestone and stony soil with some clay. The subsoil is rocky where the roots of old vines go deep draw minerals and essential elements that characterize this wine. It will accompany masculine dishes such as mutton leg and powerful cheeses.
