A wonderfully elegant, fresh and ripe nose of red berry fruit is nuanced by Gevrey earth and obvious minerality that continues onto the rich, full and distinctly refined flavors that display controlled power and focus on the dense, long and serious finish. Oddly, given the character of the vintage, this seems more masculine, indeed distinctly muscular, than normal yet it carries the additional weight with grace and harmony.

Good dark red. Reserved but complex nose offers black raspberry, smoked meat, spicecake and minerals. Dense, serious and youthfully closed, with flavors of small wild berries and spices. Finishes with somewhat tougher tannins than the Morey premier crus and thus a bit more rustic today.

Wood smoke and rose petal; along with fresh ripe red raspberry and strawberry, rise from the glass of Dujac 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Combottes. While this site was not hailed on, there is a bit of tannic roughness here that reminds me of the village "Fils & Pere bottling," and the fruit strikes me as inherently more fragile, albeit winsome. A medicinal sense of iodine and bitter herbal concentration adds to the palate staining intensity of the finish. I would plan on serving this over the next 5-6 years.
