The 2007 Juan Gil is also 100% Monastrell from 45-year-old vines aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Purple-colored with an enticing bouquet of underbrush, cedar, plum, and blueberry, on the palate it is dense, sweetly-fruited, and concentrated. Drink this nicely balanced effort over the next 4-5 years. 90 Points, Jay Miller for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #188, April 2010
Opaque purple. Blueberry, boysenberry and smoky Indian spices on the nose, with a sexy floral quality coming on with air. Juicy, sweet dark berry flavors are framed by velvety tannins and enlivened by zesty minerality. Gains depth and fleshiness with air, finishing on a strong boysenberry note, with excellent sappy persistence. This is delicious right now. 90 Points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar |
