From the otherworldly vintage of 2005 certain communes excelled as a whole, and Saint-

Emilion is definitely one. Scrumptious styles abound and the Merlot grape's ripe and rich

essences were exploited to the maximum, and the buyer is the beneficiary. The demand for the wines of 2005 has been furious for two years now and the wines have excited the market like we've never seen before. Barde-Haut, Beau-Sejour-Becot and Troplong Mondot are three wines that stood out to me when we tasted from barrel 2 years ago; the final Robert Parker scores have just landed and you can see what he thought. We believed then as we do now that overall no finer vintage from anywhere has occurred.

2005 Barde-Haut (St Emilion) *Futures

"2005 from proprietress Helene Garcin, this sexy wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color followed by a sweet bouquet of licorice, black cherries, blackberries, oak, and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, opulent, fleshy, and disarming, it will drink well in 2-3 years, and should age for 12-15. By the way, I have recently begun sampling my 1998 Barde-Haut, which is just emerging from its adolescent stage. It, too, is a beauty!" 93 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #176 (Apr 2008)
