Siduri
Single Vineyard Pinot
Noir Specialists
"One
of California's top
Pinot Noir producers.
One of my favorite
wineries."
- Robert Parker's Wine
Advocate, Issue #173,
Oct. 2007
Dear Friends,
Siduri produces single
vineyard Pinot Noir from 20
different vineyards
stretching from Santa
Barbara north to Oregon's
Willamette Valley.
Proprietors Adam and Dianna
Lee have established
relationships with
top tier growers/vineyards
including: Pisoni, Van
der Kamp and Clos Pepe.
All of their Pinot Noir
is produced unfiltered and
unfined in an effort to
maximize the expression of
these very diverse sites.
Siduri is unique in the
breadth and depth of their
single varietal focus. Truly
this is one of California's
great Pinot Noir
specialists. For Adam
& Dianna, the beauty of making wine
is the total freedom to do
it their way, without
compromise. Although it is
necessary to be able to
adapt to new circumstances
with each and every
vintage, they have
demonstrated that these
principles hold true year
after year.
The
best Central
Coast
winemakers
pay their
respects to
Burgundy. In
step with
this
practice is
the art of
making what
they
consider to
be "Village
Style"
wines. This
is to say
they source
fruit from
what is
considered
amongst
winemakers
and lovers
as the "1er
cru" or
"Grand Cru"
vineyards of
their AVA,
blend them
with other
vineyards
within the
AVA and
label it as
any larger
all-encompassing
AVA. I
really love
these
"declassified"
offerings as
they tend to
provide good
value, high
quality and
give you an
idea of what
the
winemaker
and vineyard
sources are
capable of.
Containing a
hefty amount
of Pisoni
fruit
(47%),this
offering is
full bodied,
deep,
masculine
and well
structured.

2006 Siduri Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard Russian River39.99
Ewald Vineyard is
situated between two
highly acclaimed (Dehlinger
and Kistler)
vineyards that have
produced Pinots
sought after by wine
collectors the world
over. Siduri's Ewald
holds its ground
with offerings from
the aforementioned
without mimicking
their form. Their
restrained use of
new oak allows the
fruit of the
vineyard to show
through more
expressively and
harmonically than
it's counterparts.
This is one of the
stars of the 2006
vintage. 92 points -

This is extremely
limited and the
first Siduri wine to
disappear from
shelves every year.
Garys' (This is not
a typo) vineyard is
legendary. The
finest central coast
winemakers source
grapes from this
50-acre vineyard
owned by Gary Pisoni
and Gary Franscioni
(hence the Garys'
moniker). Siduri
began their
acquisition of fruit
from this vineyard
very early on. The
2005 vintage was
whole cluster
fermented and a
variety of barrels
were used, adding to
the wine's depth,
complexity and
general construct.
