The Hippolyte Reverdy 2009 Sancerre rose suggests tart red raspberry and rose hip mingled with honeydew melon and seasoned with citrus zest, herbs, and white pepper. It manages to convey the luscious ripeness and amplitude of the vintage, together with at least some of the vivacity one looks for in this genre but often does not find in 2009. Chalk, salt, and white pepper accents add to the finish, which however betrays a hint of heat from its 14% (as per the label) alcohol, heat that became more evident over time. This should prove adaptable at table over the coming year, though it is not one of those Sancerre roses I would plan to keep around longer.
88 Points, The Wine Advocate (Aug 2010)
Very pure Sancerre aroma, generous, fresh, without grassy edges. The palate is expansive, then the nervosity makes its appearance and the finish is dry and lipsmackingly good. One of the things I love about it is that it leaves on the lips, not the palate, not the throat, but on your lips, a fresh little lemony whisper which makes it a fabulous complement to simple fish dishes.
