"Long Boat specializes in grapes from higher altitude vineyards, up to 1,000 feet, in the Waihopai and Awatere Valleys of Marlborough, at the northern end of the South Island to extract the most from the Sauvignon grapes. It offers clearly defined aromas and flavors of green plums, passion fruit with just a hint of lime. There's fresh herbs, kiwi, green apple and star fruit on the palate showing off a bit of roundness (thanks to 80% being fermented in oak barrels), yet finishing lively and clean. A nice diversion from the pungent, overly citrused sauvignons that seem to flood the market from this part of the world. Wonderful with crab, salmon, and chicken, a perfect compliment to the long hot summer forthcoming." 92 points - Mark Stitt, B-21 Wine Team, Staff Pick July 2009
